Leading the Future of Network Automation: My Journey to NetOrca

Meet Mike, Our Operations Director

With over two decades of experience in Telecoms, Service Providers, Broadcast & Media sectors, ranging from large global corporates to SMEs and Start-ups, Mike has led major technology transformations, cloud migrations, and automation strategies across some of the most complex environments.

What has been the focus of your work throughout your career?

I’ve driven large-scale network and security transformations, cloud migrations, and automation initiatives, working across multi-vendor, mission-critical environments. I’ve also built and led high-performing teams, focusing on cost-efficient, scalable solutions that simplify operations, reduce risk, and unlock new efficiencies for businesses.

Why I love this industry

The constant evolution of technology is what excites me. The role of technology is more critical than ever, and businesses face increasing challenges in managing multi-vendor, multi-cloud, and mission-critical environments. Helping organisations streamline, automate, and optimise their operations is what drives me.

Aspirations for NetOrca

NetOrca represents a new era of network orchestration—transforming how businesses think about and implement automation.

My aim at NetOrca is to:

  • Help organisations move beyond fragmented automation efforts
  • Eliminate vendor lock-in and create flexible, scalable automation frameworks
  • Enable self-service orchestration, allowing teams to operate more efficiently

We want NetOrca to be the go-to platform for businesses looking to transition from traditional fix-and-forget automation to full-scale orchestration—eliminating complexity, reducing risk, and maximizing efficiency.

My Role at NetOrca | Driving Change

My goal at NetOrca is clear: to help businesses accelerate their automation journey and reduce complexity.

Our platform tackles the major pain points we see in clients today, including:

  • Technology migrations and refreshes
  • Establishing a standardised automation framework

By shifting organisations toward state-based automation and self-service frameworks, we ensure they can scale without constraints, more securely, and more cost-effectively.

Looking ahead, what are you most excited about for the team’s future?

The future is incredibly exciting! As businesses continue to embrace AI-driven automation, software-defined infrastructure, and programmable networks, NetOrca is positioned at the forefront of this transformation—helping organisations unlock real ROI from automation.

I’m especially excited about:

  • How businesses will transition from fragmented automation to fully integrated orchestration
  • The role of AI-driven decision-making in shaping technology teams
  • The significance of enabling vendor-agnostic orchestration, eliminating technology silos and making automation truly scalable
  • The shift towards true self-service automation, eliminating manual bottlenecks

The potential is massive, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s not just adapting to these changes, but leading the way in redefining network automation.

Ideal Client?

NetOrca is built for organisations that need network automation at scale but struggle with manual processes, slow automation adoption, or high operational costs.

Our ideal clients include:

  • Large enterprises across various sectors, with strong use cases in Finance & Banking, Media, Retail, Pharma, and Service Providers
  • Technology Vendors needing a platform to help their customers drive automation adoption
  • Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and automation consultants looking to offer automation-ready services without requiring complete backend automation upfront

Something unique people don’t know about you?

I am/was a UEFA qualified football coach that spent a couple of summers working for the MLS in the USA. I’m looking forward to getting back involved with football now that my son is at an age where he is playing and enjoying sport.
